Species information

Description
Large tree capable of reaching 60m; with buttresses,. Petioles 0.3-2cm. Blades elliptic, acute or acuminate, entire, glabrous, up to 13cm long. Finer veins not ladder like (i.e. not "scalariform"); Capsules unarmed.

Interest
Sloanea - honour of Sir Hans Sloane (1660-1753), botanist, traveler and whose botanical collections formed the basis of the Natural History Museum in London.
