DescriptionTree to 30m with umbrella crown; 2-4 (rarely 6) pairs oinnae with 3-12 pairs leaflets, each 8-25mm long (or up to 6cm long on shade leaves and saplings), with a round gland between each pair pinnae, Flower heads umbrella-like brushes, or hemispherical, pinkish and white. Pod rolled round, slightly constricted between the seeds. c. 8cm x0.8-1.5cm if unrolled.

NotesMedium-sized tree to 60cm dbh and 20m ht with heavy branching and an open wide spreading crown. Outer bark reddish-brown, pitted and with slight vertical fissures. Slash very gritty, fibrous, pale cream, slightly sweet smelling. Young shoots and buds covered in dense orange-brown indumentum. Leaflets: upper surface - slightly glossy, midrib prominent, laterals visible; lower surface - glaucous, only laterals visible. Flowers arranged in loose terminal heads; calyx and corolla green and densely covered in golden brown hairs; filaments and style white, sweetly scented. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =147A, below=147C)
