Big trees of Ghana
The largest canopy and emergent in a rain forest trees are in many ways the most important in the forest, but the hardest to identify using leaves, flowers or fruits.
Many photo-pages, many A5 or A6 laminated cards, one per species, bound in a fan arrangement at one corner or in a ring binder. All pictures included the bark 'slash' in a top right square, bole and crown features on the left, and likely 'fallen material' under the slash. Reverse side with text notes.
The main aim was to investigate the accuracy of pure image browsing of bark types, with a primary index picture in the top right hand corner, to facilitate this.
128 different species cards in two different formats were tried out on 347 people.
