Species information

Description
Like A.reticulata but with blunter leaf tips, waxy-glaucous below, and the fruit has pronounced bumps. Fts to 12cm. Flowers up to 15mm long, elongated.

Interest
Squamosa - (known in East as Custard apple) Sweetsop or sugar apple W.Indies and S.America. The ripe fruit is eaten throughout the tropics.

Tree 4 m tall. LEAVES: vegetable smell when crushed; US midrib and secs slightly channelled; LS midrib and secs prominant. FLOWERS: yellow-green. FRUIT: green, imm. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =137A, below=138B)
