Species information
DescriptionClimber, with tendrils from stems, adjacent to leaves; Leaves heart-shaped, petiole >1cm long 3-9 x 3-6cm; plant often covered in mauve or bright pink flowers.
Interestfrom Gk, anti, in place of, and polygonon, knot-weed. The leaves are used in the Caribbean for poultices for boils and swellings. Tea from the leaves are used for hypertension, diavetes, flu and menstrual pains (Politi, 1996). Flowers are visited for nectar by bees
