Species information
Description10-15m tree; branches conspicuouasly whorled, forming horizontal layers of foliage; Lf stalks 5-15mm, blade 5-30cm, hairless, elliptic to ovate, pointed tip, sometimes with hairs in axils of laterals below; twigs with conspicuous ring scars. petals 12-18mm; fruits globose, c. 1.5cm long x 1.5-2.2 cm diam., 1-seeded.
InterestSmall twigs with crotch are used to produce swizzlesticks for preparing (mixing) dry milk tea and calaloo soup by house wives and chefs at Restaurants and Hotels from the leaves of Colocasia esculenta.
