Species information

Description
Shrub to c 2m with softly woody stems. Leaves 15-50cm long, roughly hairy above; leaves asymmetric, serrated. Flowers yellow with pruple markings, up to 2cm long on infls 15-35cm.

Interest
Known only on Grenada. Used as a handy towel by children stealing a quick swim in rivers. Very rare, perhaps collected only twice in the 19th Century before being recollected recently.

Notes
Large weak-stemmed shrub up to c 2m tall, older plant have a c. 3-4cm sofly woody stem. Bright lemon yellow flowers. leaves v. asymmetric, and with soft hairs sticky to touch. Said to be used as a handy riverside towel or hair comb/drier by children. Scattered Around the island on steep mainly cliffs e.g. of soft sedimentary rock.
