Species information

Description
Lvs to 20cm long, obovate ot elliptic, rounded at apex.

Interest
Small tree with some limited use as an ornamental. In Dominica this species is recorded with the local name Bois Bande', used by the Caribs as an aphrodisiac. However, there may well have been some confusion over the translation of the local name, (used in Grenada for Chione) which in any case would seem to be of French rather than Carib origin.
