Description
2-13m tree; leaves at twig ends, hairless; 4-7 leaflets; lf stalk 10-25 cm; small 2-10mm collar (ligule) where leaf meets twig. Panicles up to 20cm long; 5-12 flowers in umbels; fts 4mm.

Location
Trail to Mount Qua Qua from Gran Etang on ridge above and W of Gran Etang Lake about 3.5km N of the St. Georges to Grenville rd.

Notes
Small, low-branching tree with loopy branches to 12m ht. Outer bark smooth with scattered white lenticels. Slash chunky, fibrous but brittle and breaking off easily, soft, white turning darker dirty green due to exudate, with a sweet fruit smell. Twigs with prominent leaf scars. Leaves: petiole base breaking off with sheath; upper surface - margin white, midrib yellow, prominent; lower surface - midrib pale yellow-green, all nerves visible as more translucent; freshly crushed leaves smelling sweet and fruity like unripe mango. Fruits on 2-branched infructescences, smelling of unripe mango, pale yellow green, with a maroon tinge when ripe. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =147A, below=147B)
