DescriptionLow branched Tree to 7m, often with stem almost hori\ontal; Leaflets serrated nr apex. Flowers axillary,. Living fences and common in gardens. There is a purple and yellow fruited form.
InterestEasily roots from cuttings, and has edible fruits. In grenada the leaves are used to control insects, especially flies, in houses (Politi, 1996). The plant is also used like S.mombin.

NotesTree 6 m tall. BOLE: split at base. BARK: rough, corky, white-grey. SLASH: thick, chunky, soft, fibrous, apricot with red-brown lines due to radial corky intrusions. LEAVES: margins slightly recurved, rachis winged; US midrib prominant, secs impressed, both hairy; LS sec. nerves prominant. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =137B, below=137C)
