Species information

Description
Low branched Tree to 7m, often with stem almost hori\ontal; Leaflets serrated nr apex. Flowers axillary,. Living fences and common in gardens. There is a purple and yellow fruited form.

Interest
Easily roots from cuttings, and has edible fruits. In grenada the leaves are used to control insects, especially flies, in houses (Politi, 1996). The plant is also used like S.mombin.

At side of main road 5 km from River Sallee towards Levera.

Notes
Tree 4 m tall, branching from base, without leaves when flowering apparently (D.Joules). BARK: smooth, grey with longitudinal white lines. SLASH:thick, chunky, soft, fibrous, apricot with red-brown radial corky intrusions.
