Species information
InterestTabernaemontana - honour of Jakob Theodor von Bergzabern (d. 1590), personal physician to Count of the Palatine at Heidelberg, and latinised his name to Tabernaemontanus. Wrote the important herbal Neuw Kreuterbuch (1588-1591). The branches with leaves are used for sweeping out hot earthen ovens of ashes before placing bread or cakes for baking

NotesTree 10m tall, 12cm dbh. BARK: yellow, smooth, small circular lenticels. SLASH: soft, fleshy, grainy, abundant white latex. LEAVES: latex from nerves when cut or crushed; US midrib and secs impressed; LS midrib and secs prominant. FLOWERS: white, fragrant at 12am.
