Description
Leaves pinnate, 5 serrated leaflets, rachis winged between. Tendrils from leaf axils, forked.

Interest
Paullinia - honour of Simon Paulli (1603-1680), professor of anatomy, surgery and botany at Copenhagen.

Small climber, over trees and shrub Fruit fleshy, ripens red and opens in 3-valves. Seeds covered in white powdery substance; edible.
