Species information
Description2-15m trees, v. scaly twigs and leaves. Lf blades 3-15 (-30)cm, onlong, sometimes very narrowly so. With dense silver or brown scales below. Flowers fragrant. Petals 8-15mm long x 5-8mm; Purplish filaments 2.5-4.5cm long; Fruits strongly constricted, 6-30 (-50)cm x 5-10mm.

NotesMulti-stemmed shrub 3 m tall., with spines on older branches. BARK: smooth, slightly abrasive, dark purple-brown. SLASH: thin, green-yellow. LEAVES: thick, leathery; US waxy, midrib channelled; LS covered with silver scales. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =147A, below=148B)
