Species information

Description
Small tree to 6m; lf blades 5-15cm x 2.5-7cm; hairs at least on nerves below; stipuls 2-5mm; young twigs with dark hairs; Flowers in clusters especially on older twigs, with 8 stamens; fruits ridged with 6 ridges, 6-10mm diam., splitting in 3 valves; seeds with orange aril.

On nature trail near falls.

Notes
Tree 6m tall, 15cm diam. at base. BARK: silver-grey, smooth. SLASH: fibrous, hard, gritty, orange-brown, sapwood darker orange-brown, not scented. LEAVES: slightly bullate. FLOWERS: pale green, on old wood behind leaves.
