Location
Trail to Mount Qua Qua from Gran Etang on ridge above and W of Gran Etang Lake about 3.5km N of the St. Georges to Grenville rd.

Notes
Small, branchy, tree to 3-5m ht. Slash thin, fibrous, salmon-pink with a watery orange exudate beneath the bark. Young twigs strongly yellow lenticelate. Leaves strongly bullate, strongly emarginate, the apex curved downwards; upper surface - glossy, midrib and laterals deeply impressed; lower surface - shiny, midrib and main nerves yellower. Flowers - buds bright scarlet, 5 deciduous imbricate scarlet corolla lobes, style and filaments flushed pink at tips, otherwise yellow, anthers dehiscing longitudinally. Fruits reddish, turning purple. Common in elfin forest along ridgetop. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =146A, below=144A)
