Species information
DescriptionBlades 3-5 lobed up to 20 x 24cm; serrated; flowers stalks to 2cm calyx 17mm splitting on one side; corolla c 4cm yellow with dark red centre. Fruits to 20cm x 4 cm, 5-angled with many seeds.
InterestThe okra plant, widely cultivated for immature fruits eaten as a glutinous vegetable. Seeds can be used as a coffee substitute.
