Location
1km N Barra de la Cruz, nr sawmill on rd to main coastal highway.

Notes
Small to medium-sized tree to 10m ht. Branches and younger boles covered with sharp stout woody thorns, often in pairs. Young shoots with stout paired thorns. Outer bark pale grey, smooth. Slash thin, hard, deep orange with vertical brown stripes. Leaves, mainly shedding. Petiolar gland discoid. Flowers in lax capitula, sweet smelling, calyx green, corolla cream, stamen filaments white. Pods tardily dehsicent, mid brown, beaked. Very common in selva baja with Thevetia, Lonchocarpus, Cochlospermum, Pterocarpus, Coursetia and Jacquinia.
