Location
2km E of Barra de la Cruz, on the rear of the beach.

Notes
Small tree with an open rounded crown to 6m ht. Outer bark smooth mid grey-brown dotted with small paler lenticels. Slash thin, green then cream. Leaves: petiole and rachis maroon, petiole and leaflet margins dotted with tiny erect black glands. Flowers on erect lax racemes, calyx bright glossy green, the lobes yellow-green and hairy, petals pale to bright crimson. Unripe pods bright green dotted white and hairy turning pale straw-yellow when ripe and opening elastically on drying, the valves twsiting into tight spirals after dehiscing. Locally abundant on back of beach with Capparis odoratissima, Crataeva tapia, Trichilia trifoilia, Senna atomaria, Acacia collinsii, Acacia farnesiana, and Prosopis juliflora.
