Species information
InterestWood is soft and brittle and has no recorded timber uses. The foliage and bark are browsed by black rhino (Wickens et al. 1995).
Other NotesCommon names: S. Africa: corky thorn, Kurkdoring (Afrikaans). Species characteristics : Multistemmed shrub to around 2 m tall or tree to 5 m tall, with soft corky yellowish brown bark. Occurs in grassland, woodland, thornveld and scrub, often on rocky slopes on red sandy well drained soil. Rarely dominant. Distribution: Mozambique (Maputo); South Africa (Transvaal, Natal, Cape, Pietersburg, Ubombo, Louwsburg, ); Swaziland (Hhohho, Stegi, Manzini, Lubombo, Shiselweni).
