Other NotesCommon names: Zambia: Ngobe (ChiSenga), Woolly-podded acacia (English). Species characteristics : A shrub or small usually multistemmed tree to 4 m tall, this species can also be a scrambling shrub as would be expected by its scattered prickles. The hairy pods and large leaflets distinguish it from the other climbing Acacias. It appears to be restricted to the middle sections of the Zambesi valley and its major tributaries below 950 m altitude. In Zimbabwe it occurs on unconsolidated sandy deposits, often colluvial in origin and possibly acid. Usually localised in its distribution, it can also form thickets. Distribution: Mozambique (Tete); Zambia (Southern, Northern, Petauke); Zimbabwe (Binga, Hwange, Guruve, Gokwe, Hurungwe).
