LocationNE tip of Grenada, immediately behind Levera beach, in mangroves around Levera Pond.
NotesSmall, low-branched tree with a spreading, irregular, assymetrically wind sculpted crown to 6m ht. and 40cm dbh. Outer bark rough, vertically fissured, square scaled with reddish-brown lenticels in cracks. Slash hard, granular, sl. fibrous, with copious whitish latex. Stipules blackish. Leaves faintly serrated; single gland at tip of petiole; upper surface - midrib yellow. Fruits falling green, turning cinnamon brown when dry on ground, dehiscent to reveal 12-locules, like Hura fruits. Sap reputed to burn skin on contact. (RHS colour code: Leaf upper =146A, below=143C)
